How to get involved

Have you noticed a job that needs doing in your community? Do you have a short-term project that students in your local area can do? If so, suggest a project and we will try to get a school or youth group in the area involved.

Examples of recent projects include:

  • setting up a breakfast club at a local school or youth centre
  • creating a community garden
  • cleaning up campaign at a local park
  • design and paint a mural at a school or local community
  • establishing a youth community radio program
  • helping with homework help in primary schools
  • hosting a Red Cross blood donation day
  • promoting the Red Cross Red Crescent movement in the community
  • hosting a fundraiser for Australian Red Cross

Local businesses may wish to support a Youth Challenge community project by supplying equipment such as paint for a mural, food and beverages for a local clean up campaign team, expert advice such as gardening skills. For more information, contact the Youth Challenge Team. If you will be working with the young people, please note that you will be required to undergo a ‘working with children check’.

Alternatively you may wish to make a donation to Australian Red Cross on our secure online donations page or by telephoning 1800 811 700.
