As a result of the vision of one
man, Henry Dunant, to make a
positive difference for mankind,
the Red Cross Movement as we
know it today was born. The
Movement now operates in 178
countries with over 97 million
members and volunteers
worldwide, and is a shining
example of how the actions of
just one individual, through the
power of humanity, can bring
about positive change that
reflects a common need.
The Australian Red Cross views
the EnergyAustralia Red Cross
Youth Challenge as an exciting
initiative that gives young
people the necessary tools and
support to make a very positive
difference to the community,
their peers and to themselves.
As the largest humanitarian
organisation we know, by working
as an individual or as part of a
group, we can bring about a
world with positive change that
can last well beyond our
lifetime. As the Australian Red
Cross and EnergyAustralia work
together on this project we
invite our youth and members of
the community to take up the
challenge and work together in a
partnership to continue the
humanitarian work that Henry
Dunant began 140 years ago.
The EnergyAustralia Red Cross
Youth Challenge is a great
example of young people getting
involved and giving something
back to the community. We're
thrilled to provide a program
which offers assistance where
it's most needed, at a grass
roots level. It also helps young
people to learn new skills, gain
a sense of achievement and
understand the value of making a
positive contribution in the
area where they live.
